ABSTRACT
It is shown that the law of the emergence turbulence in a viscous heat-conducting gas describes the mechanism of generation of Tollmin-Schlichting waves in the boundary layer. It is noted that the expression found for pressure pulsations at the leading edge of the plate qualitatively correctly describes the dependence of the intensity of disturbances on the mean free-stream velocity and the frequency of disturbances established experimentally in the works of Kachanov, Kozlov and Levchenko.
Keywords: Tollmin-Schlichting waves, the law of emergence turbulence, viscous heat-conducting gas.
