ABSTRACT

The mechanism of the emergence of turbulent Emmons spots in the boundary layer of a viscous heat-conducting gas during a natural transition is considered. It is shown that the law of turbulence in a viscous heat-conducting gas describes one of the mechanisms of the emergence of turbulent Emmons spots in the boundary layer. It is noted that the found analytical expression for pressure pulsations qualitatively correctly describes the catastrophic, explosive mechanism for the appearance of turbulent spots in the boundary layer and the transition as a whole, established experimentally.
Keywords: turbulent Emmons spots, the law of emergence turbulence, viscous heat-conducting gas.
